sister wives show review

A show that is based on a polygamous family with one man and four wives. They showcase their lifestyle and aims to inform the world of a different type of marriage and family.

LOVE
I admire the wives in the family, everyone is so considerate and genuine. The idea of this large loving family that gets along is a warm feeling a connect with me immediately. Understanding one another and living peacefully with their own belief, that isn't hurting anyone else is awesome. That is honestly why I watch because of the love shared and trying to understand their way of life. I tend to forget the show and just watch their lives, rather interesting.

HATE
The man would hate if another husband came into the picture but loves sleeping with all four women in the same house. I call this an organised more mainstream, less chaotic version of love and hip hop. I often look at the husband with a sense of someone who isn't genuine, how can you preach this way of life but would find it vulgar for another husband to come in the picture. Its like someone saying they would love be in an open relationship until their partner sleeps with someone else. Preach your message fully or not all all. He is a nice guy but he gives me a strange psycho vibe that if he really thought about his life, I would fear for the families safety.
Lastly in the interview sessions he doesn't blink just has a hard creepy stare. Sorry dude but I am not your fan at all.

COULD YOU EVER BE A SISTER WIFE?

  4. I haven't watched this program but I have watched documentaries about polygamus marriages before. In my religion (islam) men are allowed to marry more than one woman, however, this hardly ever happens these days. One of the main reasons women are not allowed more than one husband is that if they become pregnant, they will not know who the father is! However, if a man has 2 wives you will always know who the mother is and who the father is. As I said, polygamy rarely occurs these days but when it does, a man normally takes a second wife that has been divorced or widowed and he does it so that he can look after her and provide for her. I am happily married (I am the only wife, lol) but I do not think I could ever be in a polygamous marriage.

    1. I completely agree I couldn't be in a polygamous marriage at all but to each is own. Also I didn't think about something you mentioned before in terms of who the children will end up knowing and its a great point. Thanks for commenting.

  5. I'm not a fan of Polygamous marriages. However I do understand the family love & bond that it would bring at home but I would rather try and create that same bond with my own traditional family. Talking to my (would be) brothers and sisters my age, slightly older and slightly younger who are living where I live and are relatively on the same page as me, would be a huge benefit in growing up and becoming independent quickly and efficiently (speaking from a non polygamous point of view). If I was one of the kids in the show I wonder If I would have objective views towards it or not. Would I see it as the norm? or would I think we were strange? Would I be able to adapt to 1 dad and 4 mums? lol .. I hold no prejudice towards them, but It's not for me. I couldn't be in a polygamous relationship.

    1. I like your way of thinking very interesting and well thought out, some of the kids on the show don't agree and so do, mainly because of the family aspect. I grew up with a big family so I enjoyed the company but the perspective that bothers is the alpha male personality its sickening yet masked in normality.

  6. Wow! That's just sooooooo......well I have learned to stop being judgmental (this case though makes it hard not to be) and in my opinion, there is no reason at all why its ok for a man to have more than one wife while the woman is prohibited. Er if tests can't prove the father(which only makes sense in a case where there are no docs and tests available) what does it matter? Its all fine and good for him to have more than one woman warming his bed or whatever the hell he sleeps on but anger and betrayal happens if the woman so much as lusts after another man! Its very OK for this to happen here but in African countries where this isn't against the law, they call us barbaric.
That's a cult waiting to happen mbok!

    1. I feel like that when I watch the show that something feels strange cult like even. Its like I try to just watch without being judgemental but the man himself is very flawed going against his own rules and being so blatantly controlling. He uses his own man made ideologies.

    1. It is honestly rather weird to watch that they all sleep with the same man in the same house and its normal to them. I don't understand it myself but it is interesting to watch. Thanks for commenting. x

  10. HEELLLLLL NAAAAWWWWLLLLLLL I can't be no sister wife. I'm selfish and the bottom line is I don't feel there is anyway a man can treat me equally to his other wife. I will always feel she is more important just because she's around. Why is monogamy such a bad thing. I feel like the first time you get married you take a vow to forsake all others. ALL OTHERS. Does that not include other potential spouses? Or am I spinning?

    1. loool am the same I couldn't do it at all, the women themselves forgive me have weird sense of self esteem, they cover this up very well. Its easier to just have a cult and leave it there than trying to seem normal when its so abnormal. The man sleeps with one wife in the same house as the rest, how is that something you just learn to overlook. shm at this but we do live in a strange world.
